U Viscuvatu


Viscuvatu is a former bishop's palace and the canton's main town, its creation dates back to the 14th century. Situated on a rocky crest between 2 rivers, the village extends from the right bank of the Golu to its mouth on the plains. Viscuvatu has played an active role in Corsica's rich history and has remained a substantial heritage.

To discover
- The Capuchin Convent, founded in 1540 and listed as historical monument.
- The Baroque church of San Martinu, dating from the 14th century and built on the emplacement of an old chapel. It's composed of a tabernacle and a high altar in white marble from the 15th century.
- The Eagle Fountain, symbol of the village since 1880. Entirely made of bronze by the Ducel fundery which is the precursor of ornamental iron castings.
- The mill and its 3-archs aqueduct of 15-metres high. They're visible form the road towards Venzulasca.
