Pedicroce


This village of Castagniccia, mostly surrounded by chestnut trees, is the biggest of Orezza area and owns 2 hamlets: Pastoreccia and Fontana. The built heritage is typical of the region, with houses-towers, stone houses, several vaulted alleys, restored bread ovens, numerous fountains... The religious heritage is considerable, and made Pedicroce an historical centre of Corsica.

To discover
- Ruins of the convent San Francescu d'Orezza founded in 1485, its church from the 17th century and 6 chapels. This convent played an important role in the history of Corsica against the Republic of Genoa: several «cunsulte» (advisory boards) and the vote for independence of Corsica took place here.
- The church San Petru è San Paulu dating from the 17th century and listed as [LIEN]historical monument, which contains the oldest organ of Corsica from 1617 and several art masterpieces.
- Cunfraternita Santa Devota chapel, close to the church.
- The chapel of Saint Césaire in the hamlet of Pastoreccia and San Ghjiseppu in Fontana.
