Scata

Scata was founded more than ten centuries ago, and is one of the oldest villages of Castagniccia. We can see remains dating from Roman times to the present day, passing through the Middle Ages and Feudal Times. The village has been able to withstand the test of time without losing any of its charm and character. Apart from religious edifices, we can find arched alleyways, old alcoves, authentic bread ovens...

To discover
- The Lumito castle and its chapel of San Martinu. Well away from the village on a rocky spur, some walls of the ancient building are still visibles in the ruins of the medieval village. The chapel has been restored.
- The cjurch of Sainte Cécile and the chapel of Cunfraternita di Santa Croce, both built during the 17th century.
- Some cobblestones of the ancient Appian Way.
